Project MUSE Usage Statistics

Project MUSE's usage reports are compliant with Release 2 of the COUNTER Code of Practice for Journals and Databases. For more information on COUNTER, please visit their web site www.projectcounter.org.

MUSE supplies subscribing institutions with the following statistics reports:

• Journal Report 1: Number of Successful Full-Text Article Requests by Month and Journal
• Journal Report 3: Number of Successful Item Requests by Month, Journal, and Page-Type
  Page-type refers to table of contents, full-text PDF, and full-text HTML. MUSE does not include in this report, as specified by COUNTER, number of turnaways or postscript requests. Turnaways and postscripts do not apply to MUSE.
• Journal Report 4: Total Searches Run by Month
• Database Report 1: Total Searches and Sessions by Month
  Although MUSE is not a "database" as defined by COUNTER, we have supplied this report for those who might be interested in "session" data.

Statistics for each month are updated and available for downloading by the 14th of the following month. MUSE usage statistics reports may be obtained in either Excel or XML format, providing subscribing institutions with the flexibility to import their statistics into a variety of tools. A login and password are required. For assistance with obtaining MUSE usage statistics, please contact our customer support department muse@press.jhu.edu. Please include in the email your name, title and the name of your institution.
